As leaders in innovation, technology, and performance, we expect big things from Buick and GMC in 2019. From ground-breaking new models to game-changing benefits, Buick and GMC are already poised to outdo themselves this year. Here are a few of the biggest headlines coming in 2019.

Redefining Off-Road Luxury

GMC introduced the new generation Sierra 1500 in 2018, and for the new model year, the automaker adds new premium trim levels at an already robust lineup.

First, the Sierra AT4 offers an elevated level of luxury combined with authentic off-road ability. Four-wheel drive is standard, as are the 2-inch factory-installed suspension lift and the off-road-tuned Rancho monotube shock absorbers. Customers can also add on the GMC-exclusive carbon fiber pickup box and the MultiPro Tailgate. Both exterior and interior style is subdued and dark with textured chrome and aluminum details, as well as leather-wrapped seats with AT4 badging on the headrests and all-weather floormats.

The Sierra Elevation will offer next-level design, performance, and connectivity. The Elevation’s standard 2.7-liter turbocharged engine is all-new, and it delivers 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque, but customers can also upgrade to either a larger V8 or a turbo-diesel inline-six. As for entertainment tech, the Elevation will include an 8-inch GMC Infotainment System with Apple Carplay™ and Android Auto™ as a standard, along with a six-speaker audio system or an optional 7-speaker Bose® premium audio system.

Of course, the top tier of the Sierra lineup for the new model year will be the well-known Denali. It offers iconic design and best-in-class tech features. The Sierra Denali will include Adaptive Ride Control to offer a luxury level comfort in the ride, and inside passengers will enjoy an extra 3 inches of leg room in the rear and Denali-exclusive materials, like premium Forge leather-appointed seating, authentic open-pore wood trim, and dark-finish aluminum decor.

New Yukon Graphite Editions

For 2019, GMC will offer an expanded Yukon line with the addition of two new Graphite Editions (pictured below). One will offer unique exterior modifications, while the other will add performance upgrades. Exclusively available on the SLT trim levels of the Yukon and Yukon XL, the Graphite Edition adds 22-inch bright machined wheels with Carbon Flash Metallic pockets, black assist steps with gloss black accents, premium black chrome grille mesh insert and fog lamp surrounds, body-color grille surround, black roof rails, gloss black beltline moldings, and additional black trim.

The Graphite Performance Edition includes all of the darkened aesthetics listed above, as well as a beefier 6.5-liter V8 engine with a ten-speed automatic transmission, increasing output to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It also adds other performance-enhancing tech, like Magnetic Ride Control and an active two-speed transfer case for 4WD models. Inside, this package adds Bose® active noise cancellation, a multi-color HUD, and larger touchscreens for the GMC Infotainment System. Look for the Graphite Edition packages to come available this summer throughout the US.

Buick-GMC Partnerships Expand Perks

Owning a Buick or GMC presents a seemingly endless list of benefits, and a recent round of collaborations with other industry leaders will result in greater ownership perks in the new year.

ExxonMobil will offer a new way to fuel up and save money at the pump. With a new update in the Buick and GMC Marketplace apps—the industry’s first in-vehicle commerce platforms—Buick and GMC drivers will be able to pay for fuel from the in-dash touchscreen. After connecting their accounts, drivers can simply pull up to the pump at participating ExxonMobile stations, select the location and pump number, and confirm payment, no card swiping necessary. With the addition of an Exxon Mobil Speedpass+ app account, drivers will be able to enjoy even more savings.

The latest update to the Buick and GMC Marketplace apps will also include a new feature for Yelp. Imagine driving around town when you hear stomachs growling from the back seat. Your Marketplace menu will now include Yelp Reservations, allowing you to find local restaurants—sorting by cuisine, distance, and rating—and reserve tables all from your in-dash touchscreen.

In addition to these new features with Marketplace, another partnership with the indispensable online retailer Amazon will offer in-vehicle delivery directly to your Buick or GMC model. For no extra cost to Amazon Prime members with active OnStar accounts, Amazon will deliver packages to eligible vehicles using the Amazon Key while parked in publicly accessible areas. Customers will receive notifications when the deliveries are on the way and after completion, with no further action necessary.
